Another turn around the sun and we find ourselves facing another year. New Years can be new opportunities, or a chance to finish the ones we set out for ourselves last year. I've taken some time to clean up the hobby desk, organize some collections, and generally make things more accessible to make my goals a little easier to achieve. Now lets see what I plan to do.
And so another year comes to a close. This was the year of exploration for me, as I tried a plethora of new games, from the far distant future of 40k to naval warfare during the age of Napoleon. Of course, a few little models got painted as well. I joined a few challenges from various other blogs, and now I'm a part of the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge to finish of this year and start the next. Overall, I would say that it's been a good year.
This will be a sort of weird hybrid post. I'll be talking about my thoughts with the recent announcement that Armada and X-Wing are ceasing development, but nobody likes a wall of text, unless you're into books. But this isn't a book, and pictures are required, so I've gone ahead and interspersed my ramblings with photos of my painted Armada squadrons. So it does double duty for the Season of Scenery challenge as well.
Hello all, it has been a little bit since I last had a post here, and apologies for not leaving any comments on all of your blogs. I've been out on a much needed vacation, touring about the New England coast. Now that I'm back, fully refreshed, I'm ready to get back into the hobby groove, but with some new additions on the horizon.
Here we are again, at the start of a new year. Every year, it sounds more and more futuristic, and before we know it it'll be 2050 and the promise of flying cars will finally be achieved. By that time Warhammer Fantasy will have been killed off and brought back again. One year at a time though, so let's focus on 2024 and what the Space Dino wants out of it.

Jokes aside about a catchy song from a kids cartoon, I could belabor the point about how I painted this model or how awesome it is, but a quick Google search will give you plenty of models to peruse and people talking about how they painted it. Instead, I'm going to talk about the theme of this model in relation to its faction.
Late last year, I played a 4 player game of Age of Sigmar. I had participated in a total of two games in 2022, so to say I was rusty was an understatement. I don't have a lot of time to focus on the rules and stay updated, and the meta moves quickly, what with the General's Handbooks dropping every 6 months now and an edition change every 3 years. It's too much, and I sound like an old man. So I need something a little more simple for my old man soul.

Now that 2022 is good and buried, we can all turn our attention onwards to the year 2023. I have a lot of goals myself for the year. You know, like working out, eating healthy and all of that jazz. But that's not the important stuff. No, what matters is the war dollies, and how I will be different and better with them in the next 360 or so days.

The particular project I'm talking about is this unit of 5 Drakespawn Knights, whose pretty pictures now grace this article. In the literal months it took to finish this unit, which is far longer than it takes me on average to paint models such as these, it got me to thinking about why that happens and what you can do to fix it.
