In the first game of the year on the Space Dinosaur, we have a game of Age of Sigmar, but in the Skirmish variety. So I loaded up the table with tons of terrain and we all got to playing! The objective: gather coins around the table and get them into the well at the center of the map.

Look, I know, it's 2023, let bygones be bygones. And this particular game was played in 2022. However, the Space Dino very rarely games nowadays, so getting the chance to play was a blast, and I had to share the total of three photos I have of the night.

Another year gone by and here we are at the end, which means it's time for the annual Year In Review for the Space Dinosaur Miniatures. This has been a good year, with Covid waning allowing for more activities, but I still got a good amount of minis done.

After an eternity of painting, I have finally finished painting the Untamed Beasts warband from Warcry. And man, was that an effort. I seem to have a tendency to go for a higher standard with these sets, even if there are a bunch of chaff units in them. But, they're done, and in this post, I will show you my paint recipe for the Untamed Beasts.

Review: Space Dinosaur Miniatures 2021 and a Look Forward to 2022

Now that we're nearing the end of 2021 and we can see 2022 just off the horizon, it's time for the Space Dinosaur Minis 2021 year in review. Obviously, 2021 was another Covid year, but unlike 2020 I wasn't locked in my house the entire time, so this year there's a little bit less accomplished, but still, I think I made a good run of the year.

Hobby Table: Iron Golems Warcry Warband

Now that the 2021 hobby is in full swing, I set my eyes on completing the full Iron Golems Warcry warband. At first I was intimidated as each model is totally unique, so it would almost be like painting 8 hero characters. With painting complete, I learned that these are actually quite easy to paint. Not only that, they may be some of my favorite sculpts out of the Age of Sigmar range.

 

Review: Space Dinosaur Miniatures 2020 and a Look Forward to 2021

While 2020 has been a wild year, what with the pandemic and wildfires and elections and all, but here on the Space Dinosaur Miniatures I've been having a great time. A large part of this has been the working from home, which has resulted in an explosion of hobby work. The blog has grown from 3 to 8 posts a year to breaking 50 posts in 2020. I've added a new army to the bunch, and several armies have grown a bit in size. So lets take a look back at 2020 to see what I got done, and then we'll look to 2021 and what I have in store for you dear reader. 

 

Gaming Table: Thanksgiving 4 Player Free-for-all

 Over the Thanksgiving weekend, I managed to squeeze in a game of Age of Sigmar with my three brothers. In the interest of time and to accommodate the younger players, each of us had a 500 point army, with no allegiance abilities, just the straight up warscroll rules. I was playing a mixed Skaven list, versus a Stormcast, Slaves to Darkness, and Cities of Sigmar armies. The objective was to be the last one standing. 

Hobby Table: Chaos Knights

Continuing the Chaos trend from last post, I finished painting the five Chaos Knights that came in the original Start Collecting - Slaves to Darkness box. This marks the first time that I've completed one of these boxes, and combined with the fact that I finished the Khorne half of the first Age of Sigmar starter set, Chaos seems to be the army of completion for me.

Today's post is a quick one, covering the completion of a unit of Chaos Warriors. Now that work is starting to pick up again, I have less time to hobby and write, but I will do my best to stick to at least a post a week. Anyways, back to it. 

Paint Recipe: How to Paint the Chaos Lord on Karkadrak

After what feels like an eternity, I have completed the Chaos Lord on Karkadrak. This model comes packaged in the new Slaves to Darkness Start Collecting box which contains all new, easy-to-build kits. I really like the look of this particular model, but boy does it have a lot of details and textures that required a lot of colors.

Paint Recipe: How to Paint Warcry Raptoryx

The Warcry starter set (which unfortunately is no longer for sale) came with a veritable pile of goodies. Two starter armies, two sets of beasties, terrain, tokens, and game board filled the box to the brim, and I have, very slowly, been clearing out the contents of said box.

Here we have the paint recipe that I used to paint the set's Raptoryx, weird hybrids of turkey and dinosaur. They can be captured in a Warcry campaign to become a part of your warband, and in Age of Sigmar games they can be a part of a Slaves to Darkness army.

In my own home cooked lore, they aren't necessarily creatures of chaos. They live high in the mountains, and members of the various Skal tribes will capture them as part of a coming of age ritual, and mark them with metal ringlets before releasing them as proof of their deeds.
