Paint Recipe: Cities of Sigmar Cogsmith

For today's Paint Recipe we have a short (hehe) post on the duardin Cogsmith, a hero for the Cities of Sigmar that buffs artillery pieces such as the Helblaster Volley Gun and Helstorm Rocket Battery. This is the first time that a duardin has appeared on the blog, unless you count this miniatures brief appearance in my 2020 review post. I will admit that I didn't really like painting this model, as the short stature of the model made it more difficult to reach some of the details (psht sub-assemblies...) which slowed down the process a bit.

Nonetheless, he is done and the beard is magnificent, so on to how I painted him.
Armor: Brass Scorpion (GW) washed with Agrax Earthshade (GW) then highlighted with Brass Scorpion (GW).
Kilt: Forest Green (AP) then highlighted with a 50/50 mixture of Forest Green (AP) and Moot Green (GW). The trim is Shining Silver (AP). The rune is Retributor Gold (GW) washed with Reikland Fleshshade (GW). The gems have Waystone Green (GW) painted over the Shining Silver (AP). The lens on the helmet go the same treatment.
Skin: Kislev Flesh (GW) washed with Reikland Fleshshade (GW).
Beard and Pipe: Lava Orange (AP) washed with Cassandora Yellow (GW). I then highlighted with a 50/50 mix of Lava Orange (AP) and Flayed One Flesh (GW). I did another, smaller highlight with a 25/75 mix of the same paints. The pipe also uses Flayed One Flesh (GW), but this time washed with diluted Soft Tone (AP). The cogs decorating the beard are painted with Warplock Bronze (GW).

Guns: The guns are basecoated with Gunmetal (AP), and then the leather covers on the gun stocks are painted with Chaotic Red (AP). The leather holsters use the same color. I then washed both colors with Nuln Oil (GW). I then went back to the metal and highlighted with Shining Silver (AP). I used Retributor Gold (GW) to pick out some details. The thread on the holsters is painted with Flayed One Flesh (GW).

Axe: The haft of the axe is painted with Chaotic Red (AP) and washed with Nuln Oil (GW). The pommel is Warplock Bronze (GW). The blade is painted with Shining Silver (AP) and then washed with Nuln Oil (GW).

Back Banner: The banner follows all the same steps as the guns, just with a little bit more details picked out with the Retributor Gold (GW).

That's all it takes to paint up one of these fine fellows. If you have any other questions feel free to reach out.
