A few posts back I covered the over-arching lore of Heldenmarch, and as I paint more units for the army I will include some snippets of lore on how they fit into the larger tale. I eventually intend to cover all of my models this way, but the big lore posts take a bit of time since I have to make a coherent background, draw maps, design backdrops and take nice photos, on top of painting the miniatures themselves.
For today, we have a wizard and some advanced artillery joining the ranks of Heldenmarch. Since the country can no longer call upon the power of a deity, magic and technology have filled that role. Wizards are trained in elemental magics, able to call on arcane power in battle.
This particular wizard calls upon the celestial powers of the heavens, as noted by his robes of azure. In games of Age of Sigmar, he serves the role of a battlemage, with spells taken from the Lore of Azyr. The model itself is converted from an acolyte from the Celestial Huricanum kit and leftover bits of the Light Mage.
On the technological side of things, the Helstorm Rocket Battery and its crew are finally finished. Now that I have the paint scheme for Heldenmarch infantry down pat, it wasn't difficult at all to knock out the three crew members.
Every artillery piece in the Heldenmarch army has a name given to it by its crew, and this rocket battery is no different. Known as the Dragon's Maw for the rocket's resemblance to teeth, it bears the same capability to unleash fire upon its foes.
Each crew member has quite a bit of personality to them, and contrary to what I thought actually fun to paint. Naturally, the leader got more attention than the rest, what with his fancy feather cap and all.
This last crew member is converted from a metal model that I have no idea where it's from originally. It came in a bulk lot off of eBay, and I added the mechanical cherub from the old Empire General kit.
From here on out is just a gallery of the rocket battery itself. Enjoy!
