After surviving a rip-roaring boating adventure, my Lizardmen have made landfall in a strange part of town. Stranger still, the leader seems inexorably drawn towards the large, spooky structure in the center of the square. Undeterred, the rest of the warband follows them in as they trudge along. What awaits for our intrepid heroes....
It's vampires. No need to keep you in suspense, it's in the title of the post. The leader of the warband is forced to move towards the center of the table at their movement speed, but if they fail a leadership test they have to run instead. My strong Lizardmen psychology meant that I never failed this test, and could pick the speed that I went towards the center. I stuck behind the buildings and platforms, taking the occasional potshot as I could.
I was content to let another warband be the first to encounter the vampire. That thing was a beast, with 3 wounds, WS 5 and Str 5, with parry and a buckler. And for every model killed they could get wounds back. So yes, much better to let someone else take a few swings before I got myself stuck in.
The vampire then proceeded to absolutely body model after model. This thing was scary.
But it turns out a Kroxigor with frenzy is also scary. I was able to cast a spell that gave him frenzy, which doubles his already high number of attacks, which meant he was dishing out a total of 6 attacks plus a bite.
It still took a ton of effort though. I practically had my entire warband wailing into this vampire, and it still took about 3 rounds to finally get rid of him. I was able to make the enemy chaos warband to route, which removed the only other serious threat to my victory.
Once the vampire was down, the game was over and I was left with my whole warband intact, which is another big plus.
