Another day, another Mordheim game. Now that the warbands have made it inside the city, it's time to do some good ol'fashioned looting. Treasure tokens have been scattered across the face of the map, and so have all of the warbands. Each model had to be placed down one at a time, resulting in a very scattered deployment. Which made for some mayhem right from the start!
I was able to plunder a few tokens right off the bat, and I was quite lucky to get not one, but two wyrdstones. This is particularly good for me, as I only have four heroes for exploration at the end of the game, so any extra money I can get early is a godsend.
This was also a 3-player game, and while I was chasing the poor Midenheimers, I was getting chased by a bunch of Chaos cultists. We ended up traversing almost the whole map, where all of my Saurus began to gang up on a bunch of stragglers. It was a good time.
Unfortunately for my leader, I made the tactical decision to place him by himself atop a building deep in enemy territory. He actually held off death for a few turns, enough at least to distract the bulk of the Midenheim force away from me. Luckily, he suffered no lasting effects once the game was over.
Sadly for me, this is a small warband which means I had to take route checks once I lost 25% of my force. That number is a measly 3 models. Seeing as my warband has a few skinks in it, that's not a hard number to achieve. But with my leader dead, my leadership was a lowly 7, and I ended up bolting on my very first route check. Right when I was about to beat up on some cultists. Ah well. One of my Saurus actually got a Lad's Got Talent roll, and is now a hero. So I at least have that going for me.

Good to hear your leader suffered no long term damage, and the Saurus upgrade should help in future games, and great find early on in the game, that helped after getting routed early.
ReplyDeleteYeah that was really lucky on my part, it was a very boneheaded move to make haha. I got rewarded for it though so that's just how Mordheim goes.
Deleteand another blog post. Great looking game and the campaign continues...
ReplyDeleteI forget, how big is a table for Mord?
Honestly I don't really know, we just use whatever game mat we have available. We were playing on a 4x4 though, it's usually that or a 4x3.
DeleteA fab looking game, nice one!
ReplyDeleteThanks! We were quite pleased with how we laid out the board on this one!
DeleteMan, I love it, this is mesmerising, so awesome!
ReplyDeleteRight! Sometimes I just want to look at all the details we end up inadvertently making.
DeleteLovely looking game and a not terrible result?
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks, and yeah it turned out way better than the end state of the game would suggest haha
